Brief presentation of the institution

The mission of the Institute for Electromagnetic Sensing of the Environment is the development of methodologies and technologies for acquisition, processing, fusion and interpretation of images and data obtained by electromagnetic sensors operating on satellite, aircraft and in situ, aimed at monitoring environment and
territory, at non-invasive diagnostic and at electromagnetic risk assessment.
The Institute has consolidated expertise in the fields of optical and microwave remote sensing, diagnostics in situ for environment and territory, combined with the biological one for risk assessment from exposure to electromagnetic fields but also for their possible applications in medicine.

Main Electroporation related topics

IREA researchers are involved in characterizing the effects of high voltage, ns electric pulses in mammalian cell cultures with the twofold aim to give insight into interaction mechanisms still unclear and to explore the potential applications. Moreover, in collaboration with the Department of Information Engineering of the Second University of Naples,innovative devices for pulse generation and delivery in cellular samples are designed and realized.
