Brief presentation of the institution

Our aim is to design new equipment, measurement methods and instrumentation systems in the fields of ATE, EMC, medicine and biotechnology. We are interested especially in instrumentation for medical diagnosis, biotechnological processes and electromagnetic field measurements in the near-field region and automotive applications

Areas of expertise

Hardware and software design of measurement systems based on electrical impedance, ultrasound or infrared radiation. Analog and digital signal processing applied to biomedical signals. Low-noise electronic design and electromagnetic compatibility

Main research areas

Our research is organized in three interdependent groups:

The objective of this research area is the measurement of physical parameters in a broad range of materials from in-vitro cell cultures and human tissues to concrete by non invasive techniques based on impedance measurements. The main techniques used are: Electrical Impedance Tomography, Impedance Spectroscopy, Inductive Spectroscopy and Radiofrequency propagation

 

Main Electroporation related topics

Development of electrode assemblies and complementary equipment for in situ electroporation of adherent cell monolayers in standard multiwell tissue culture plates. Our aim is to help in the standard use of the technique in research laboratories.

Currently we are working in Electrical Impedance Spectrocopy as a method for online monitoring the electroporation process.  We are using fast measuring techniques recently developed in our group.

- Custom made biphasic generator (0-50 Vp, 0-800mA).

- Oscilloscopes, function generator and all related instrumentation.

- Soldering an desoldering stations for conventional and low pitch SMD electronic components

- Hardware and software for finite-element modeling (COMSOL Multiphysics).

- NI-PXI platform for advanced signal generation and acquisition
