School on Application of PEF for Food Processing
offered by the University of Zaragoza
January 20 – 23, 2014
Zaragoza, Spain
The group of “New Technologies of Food Processing and Preservation “ at the University of Zaragoza in the framework of the Cost Action “TD1104 European network for development of electroporation-based technologies and treatments” organizes a four days training school on applications of PEF for the food industry.
The aim of the course is to offer attendants (PhD students, early-stage researches and industrial users of the technology) with an overview of knowledge and understanding of the basic principles involved in food processing by pulsed electric fields and to provide practice in the use of these principles for liquid food pasteurization and improving mass transfer operations in the food industry. Lectures presented by experts in the field will be complemented with laboratory practical sessions, pilot plant demonstrations and short presentations of activities conducted by participants. The course will offer the opportunity of promoting networking and communication between young scientists, experts and industrial partners interested in this attractive technology.
The COST action EP4Bio2Med is offering 10 travel grants to students for travelling expenses associated with participation in the School.
